Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
