The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
