The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
