۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 (Sitting) on couches, face to face, 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'" 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And indeed We had sent Heralds of warnings among them. 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 Not so the chosen servants of God. 74
