Nay! By the moon 32 and the night when it retreats 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 In Gardens they will question 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 running away from a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
