Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions ranged 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
