Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 But save him who fears 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
