(The tribe of) Thamud denied the messengers (of Allah) 141 When their brother Salih (Saleh) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 142 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 143 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 144 I do not ask for any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 145 "Will you be left secure in that which you have here? 146 In gardens and springs. 147 and cornfields, and palm-trees laden with fruit -- 148 And you hew houses out of the mountains exultingly; 149 So fear Allah, and obey me. 150 do not obey the bidding of those who are given to excesses, 151 “Those who spread turmoil in the earth, and do no reform.” 152 They said, “You are under a magic spell.” 153 You are only a human being like ourselves. Show us a sign, if you are telling the truth." 154 He said, “This is the she-camel – one day shall be her turn to drink, and on the other appointed day, shall be your turn.” 155 Do not touch her with malice so that punishment of a dreadful day seizes you' 156 But they killed her, and then they became regretful. 157 So the chastisement seized them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 158 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 159
