The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and gushing water, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
