۞ (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 And they will turn to one another and question one another. 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 Moreover, we had no power at all over you: nay, you were people filled with overweening arrogance! 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 Then lo! this day they (both) are sharers in the doom. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 As if they were eggs carefully protected. 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. – 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” – 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 for which one must strive hard. 61 Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 The fruit thereof is as though the hoods of the serpents. 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 Then on top of it they will have a brew of boiling water. 67 then their return is to Hell. 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 And verily We sent among them warners. 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 Not so the chosen servants of God. 74
