And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds. 192 The Trustworthy Spirit brought it down. (Angel Jibreel – peace be upon him.) 193 upon thy heart, [O Muhammad] so that thou mayest be among those who preach 194 in clear Arabic speech. 195 Its news was also mentioned in the ancient Books. 196 Was it not a sign for them, that it is known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 And had We sent it down upon a person other than an Arab, 198 And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it. 199 Thus it passes through the hearts of the criminals. 200 they will not believe in it till they behold the grievous suffering 201 And it shall come to them all of a sudden, while they shall not perceive; 202 They will therefore say, “Will we get some respite?” 203 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 204 Therefore observe, that if We give them some comforts for some years, – 205 and then the promised punishment fell upon them, 206 That which they were made to enjoy shall not avail them? 207 Never did We destroy a population, but had its warners - 208 to admonish them. We have never been unjust. 209 The satans did not bring down this (Clear Book), 210 And it behoves them not, and they have not the power to do (it). 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 Therefor invoke not with Allah another god, lest thou be one of the doomed. 213 Warn your close relatives 214 and spread the wings of thy tenderness over all of the believers who may follow thee; 215 Then if they disobey thee, say: "I am free (of responsibility) for what ye do!" 216 Put your trust in the Almighty, the Most Merciful, 217 Who watches you when you stand up. 218 or move during your prostration with the worshippers. 219 He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you (O people!) upon whom the Shayatin (devils) descend? 221 They come down to every mendacious sinner, 222 They listen eagerly, but most of them are liars. 223 And the astray follow the poets. 224 Hast thou not seen how they stray in every valley, 225 And that they say that which they do not? 226 Not so the true believers who do good works and remember God with fervour and defend themselves only after they are wronged. The wrongdoers will soon know how evil a turn their affairs will take. 227
