Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Sure Reality! 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord – so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 in a high Garden, 22 its fruits are near. 23 Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
