The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 And I secretly plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
