Nay, and by the moon, 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 a warning to mortal man 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 From the guilty. 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
