He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 with darkness overspread: 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
