Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
