The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
