Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a high Garden 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 To Us they will all return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
