And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and on whom We had bestowed the good things of this life, said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: he eats of that of which ye eat, and drinks of what ye drink. 33 If ye were to obey a mortal like yourselves, then, lo! ye surely would be losers. 34 “Does he promise you that when you die and turn into dust and bones, you will be raised again?” 35 ۞ After, after with that which you are promised! 36 "There is nothing but our life of this world! We die and we live! And we are not going to be resurrected! 37 He is naught but a man who has forged against God a lie, and we will not believe him.' 38 [Whereupon the prophet] would say: "O my Sustainer! Succour me against their accusation of lying!" 39 (Allah) said: "In but a little while, they are sure to be sorry!" 40 Then the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong! 41 Then, after them, We created other generations. 42 No nation can go before its term ends nor stay back. 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after the other. Every time an apostle came to a people they denied him. So We made one follow the other (to its doom), and turned them into bygone tales. Cursed be the people who do not believe! 44 Thereafter We sent Musa and his brother Harun with Our signs and an authority manifest. 45 to Pharaoh and to his chiefs, but they behaved superciliously and they were haughty. 46 and they said, 'What, shall we believe two mortals like ourselves, whose people are our servants?' 47 So they rejected them, calling them liars, and they too eventually became of those that were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, that haply they would be guided; 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and gave them shelter on a peaceful hillside watered by a fresh spring. 50
