Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I do call to witness the Resurrection Day; 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul. 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 He asks: "When will the Day of Resurrection be?" 6 So when the eyes will be blinded by light. 7 And the moon becomes dark, 8 when the sun and moon are gathered together 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 No, there is no refuge. 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. 13 Nay, man will be evidence against himself, 14 even though he might make up excuses. 15 [Prophet], do not move your tongue too fast in your attempt to learn this revelation: 16 Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof. 19 No indeed; but you love the hasty world, 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 On that day, some faces will shine with freshness. 22 Looking at their Lord. 23 And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, 24 Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them. 25 Some people, certainly, do not believe in it, but when a person's soul reaches up to his throat 26 And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?" 27 He will then realise it is the parting, 28 and when leg is intertwined with leg, 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
