Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you who wraps himself [in clothing], 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 (Worship Him) for more or less than half of the night 3 Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. 4 Indeed We shall soon ordain a heavy responsibility upon you. 5 [and,] verily, the hours of night impress the mind most strongly and speak with the clearest voice, 6 True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties: 7 And remember thou the name of thy Lord, and devote thyself to Him with an exclusive devotion. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no Allah save Him; so choose thou Him alone for thy defender - 9 And patiently endure upon what the disbelievers say, and leave them for good. 10 And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. 11 for with Us there are fetters, and a furnace, 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment - 13 On that day, the earth and the mountains will be violently shaken, and the mountains will be turned into heaps of moving sand. 14 We have sent an Apostle to you as a witness against you, as We had sent an apostle to the Pharaoh. 15 But Firon disobeyed the apostle, so We laid on him a violent hold. 16 If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, 17 And the heaven shall be split therein. His promise indeed must be fulfilled. 18 This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. 19
