Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay! By the moon 32 By the night when it departs. 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 From the guilty. 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
