He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and in awe of God 9 you ignore him. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
