Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by this city 1 And you shall be made free from obligation in this city-- 2 by the begetter, and that he begot, 3 Verily, We have created man in toil. 4 Does he think that no one can overpower him? 5 saying, 'I have consumed wealth abundant'? 6 What, does he think none has seen him? 7 Did We not grant him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 and guided him on the two paths (of good and evil)? 10 Yet he has not assaulted the steep; 11 And what shall make thee understand that which the steep is? 12 The freeing of a slave! 13 or the feeding in times of famine 14 The orphan near in relationship, 15 or a needy man in misery; 16 so that he becomes one of those who believe, charge each other to be patient, and charge each other to be merciful. 17 Those are the companions of the right. 18 But those who deny Our revelations are the people of the left hand: 19 Fire will be an awning over them. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
