And when the sent angels came to the house of Lut. 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 And We made known to him this decree that the wrongdoers were to be utterly cut off in the morning. 66 In the meantime the people of the city came to Lot rejoicing. 67 He said, “These are my guests – do not dishonour me.” 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?" 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro. 72 So the shriek seized them at sunrise. 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 for, behold, those [towns] stood by a road that still exists. 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
