But as for anyone who chooses to remain blind to the remembrance of the Most Gracious, to him We assign an [enduring] evil impulse, to become his other self: 36 Surely the (devils) obstruct them from the path, though they think they are rightly guided, -- 37 Until when he comes before Us he will say (to the devil): "Would to God there was a distance of the East and West between you and me, for you were an evil companion!" 38 (It will be said to them) “And you will not benefit from them this day, whereas you are unjust – for you are all partners in the punishment.” 39 Can you [Prophet] make the deaf hear? Or guide either the blind or those who are in manifest error? 40 And whether [or not] We take you away [in death], indeed, We will take retribution upon them. 41 Or (if) We show thee that wherewith We threaten them; for lo! We have complete command of them. 42 So hold thou fast to the Revelation sent down to thee; verily thou art on a Straight Way. 43 And verily, this (the Quran) is indeed a Reminder for you (O Muhammad SAW) and your people (Quraish people, or your followers), and you will be questioned (about it). 44 And ask (O Muhammad SAW) those of Our Messengers whom We sent before you: "Did We ever appoint aliha (gods) to be worshipped besides the Most Beneficent (Allah)?" 45
