۞ (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 “And stop them – they are to be questioned.” 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Nay! he (Muhammad SAW) has come with the truth (i.e. Allah's Religion - Islamic Monotheism and this Quran) and he confirms the Messengers (before him who brought Allah's religion - Islamic Monotheism). 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 “And you will not be compensated except for your deeds.” 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 Theirs shall be wide-eyed maidens with bashful, restrained glances, 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 They will turn to one another with questions: 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 What, do we then not die 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 Verily, this - this indeed - is the triumph supreme!" 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 They found their father going astray 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
