The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and extended shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
