The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars darken, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 and brightening morning, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
