And (remember) when your Lord called Musa (Moses) (saying): "Go to the people who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doing), 10 The folk of Pharaoh. Will they not ward off (evil)? 11 : He said: "O Lord, I fear that they will deny me. 12 and my chest will become constricted and my tongue will not be loosed (in my speech), therefore, send to Aaron. 13 As for me, they hold the charge of a crime against me. I fear they will put me to death." 14 God said, "Indeed not; go both of you with Our signs, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]. 15 go both to Pharaoh and both of you say to him: 'We are (each) a Messenger from the Lord of all the Worlds. 16 That you should send the children of Israel with us.' 17 Pharaoh said to Moses, "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you spent several years of your life with us. 18 "And you did your deed, which you did (i.e. the crime of killing a man). And you are one of the ingrates." 19 Moses said, "I did do it and I made a mistake. 20 Then I fled from you when I feared you, and my Lord vouchsafed me a command and appointed me (of the number) of those sent (by Him). 21 And [as for] that favour of which thou so tauntingly remindest me - [was it not] due to thy having enslaved the children of Israel?" 22 Pharaoh said: "And who is this Lord of the Universe?" 23 He said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure. 24 Said he to those about him, 'Do you not hear?' 25 Moses continued, "He is the Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 Said he: Most surely your Apostle who is sent to you is mad. 27 Moses said, "He is the Lord of the East and the West, and all that lies between them, if only you could understand." 28 (Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!" 29 He said: even though I bring unto thee something manifest? 30 (Pharaoh) said: Produce it then, if thou art of the truthful! 31 Moses threw his staff and suddenly it became a serpent. 32 And he drew out his hand, and it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
