۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 other than Allah, and guide them to the Path of Hell! 23 And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned." 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 As such We shall deal with the evildoers. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 But the bondmen of Allah, the sincere ones 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 In gardens of delight, 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 [And] he adds: "Would you like to look [and see him]?" 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 for which one must strive hard. 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, 66 Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). 67 They can only return to hell. 68 They had indeed found their forefathers astray. 69 and they run in their footsteps. 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
