In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O thou enwrapped! 1 Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little - 2 Half of it, or a little less than that, 3 or a little more, but recite the Quran slowly and distinctly. 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 [and,] verily, the hours of night impress the mind most strongly and speak with the clearest voice, 6 Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties, 7 Remember the name of your Lord, and devote yourself to Him wholeheartedly. 8 Lord of the East and Lord of the West – there is no God except Him, therefore make Him your sole Trustee of affairs. 9 And patiently endure upon what the disbelievers say, and leave them for good. 10 Leave to Me those who belie, those who lead a life of pleasure, and bear with them yet a little while. 11 Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire 12 food that chokes and painful punishment 13 On the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand. 14 Verily We! We have sent unto you an apostle, a witness over you, even as We sent unto Fir'awn an apostle. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. 16 If you persist in disbelieving, how will you guard yourself against the (woe of the) Day that will turn children grey-haired, 17 The Day when the heavens will be rent asunder and God's promise shall be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is an admonition; let him therefore, who will, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
