The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. 3 Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). 4 As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- 5 A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. 6 They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. 7 they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: 8 [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. 9 "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." 10 But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 And they will be given to drink there a cup (of wine) mixed with Zanjabil (ginger, etc.), 17 (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls. 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. 21 [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." 22
