The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, holding the big stars. 1 And by oath of the Promised Day. 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 Cursed were the companions of the trench 4 [Containing] the fire full of fuel, 5 when they were seated around it 6 And they witnessed (all) that they were doing against the Believers. 7 And they resented them not except because they believed in Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy, 8 [and] to whom the dominion of the heavens and the earth belongs. But God is witness unto everything! 9 Those who persecuted the believing men and women and never repented, there is for them the punishment of Gehenna (Hell), and for them the punishment of the burning. 10 Verily, those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them will be Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise). That is the great success. 11 VERILY, thy Sustainer's grip is exceedingly strong! 12 Surely it is He who originates, and brings again, 13 And He only is the Oft Forgiving, the Beloved of His bondmen. 14 Owner of the Throne, the Exalted. 15 Effecter of what He intends. 16 Did the story of the armies reach you? 17 of the Pharaoh and Thamud? 18 But those who disbelieve are engaged in denial. 19 But God surrounds them from all sides. 20 In fact it (what they deny) is the Noble Qur’an. 21 On a guarded tablet. 22
