The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And wide eyed houris 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and shade extended, 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
