The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 And thine inner self purify! 4 And all abomination shun! 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
