I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 By the night when it departs. 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 As a warning unto men, 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 Of evil-doers: 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
