The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 he shall call for destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
