The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of the heaven which contains the constellations. 1 By the promised Day (of Judgment); 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 THEY DESTROY [but] themselves, they who would ready a pit 4 the makers of the fuel-stoked fire! 5 when they were seated over it 6 And they were witnesses of what they did with the believers. 7 They had no other reason for hating them except that they believed in God the mighty, worthy of praise, 8 To Him only belongs the kingship of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is a Witness over all things. 9 Those who persecuted the believing men and women and never repented, there is for them the punishment of Gehenna (Hell), and for them the punishment of the burning. 10 Verily, those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them will be Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise). That is the great success. 11 Verily the grip of thine Lord is severe. 12 It is He who originates and repeats. 13 And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Full of Loving-Kindness, 14 Lord of the Arsh, the Glorious, 15 a sovereign doer of whatever He wills. 16 Has it come to you the story of the hosts 17 of Pharaoh and of Thamood? 18 In fact the disbelievers are in denial. 19 God encompasses them from all sides. 20 Nay, but this [divine writ which they reject] is a discourse sublime, 21 in a guarded tablet. 22
