The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Indeed, there came upon the human a period of time when he was an unremembered thing. 1 We created the human being from the union of sperm and egg to test him. We gave him hearing and vision. 2 Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor 5 This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 9 "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they shall behold therein neither sun nor hurting cold. 13 since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 crystal of silver that they have measured -- very exactly. 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. 19 wherever you look, you will see bliss and a great kingdom: 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. 21 This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. 22
