The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
