The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 They do not expect any reward 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
