When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 "We have come to you with news," they said, "of what your people doubt; 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 So set out with your family in a watch of the night, and keep yourself behind them, and no one of you may turn around, and keep going ahead as you have been commanded." 65 We communicated to him Our decree that the guilty ones would be destroyed by the morning. 66 And the people of the town came rejoicing. 67 He said: "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They said, "Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?" 70 He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)." 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 Verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 75 And indeed that township is upon a road still in use. 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 And indeed the Dwellers of the Woods were unjust. 78 So We took vengeance on them. And verily both are on a high-road open. 79
