۞ IT IS GOD who has made the sea subservient [to His laws, so that it be of use] to you so that ships might sail through it at His behest, and that you might seek to obtain [what you need] of His bounty, and that you might have cause to be grateful. 12 And He has made subservient to you whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth, all, from Himself; most surely there are signs in this for a people who reflect. 13 Say, [O Muhammad], to those who have believed that they [should] forgive those who expect not the days of Allah so that He may recompense a people for what they used to earn. 14 Whoever does a good deed - it is for himself; and whoever does evil - it is against the self. Then to your Lord you will be returned. 15 We gave to the Children of Israel the Book, judgment and prophethood. We provided them with good things and preferred them above the worlds (of their time). 16 And We vouchsafed unto them evidences of the affair. And they differed not except after the knowledge had come unto them, through spite among themselves. Verily thy Lord will decide between them on the Day of Judgment concerning that wherein they have been differing. 17 We have put you on the right way in the matter (of divine law). So follow it, and do not follow the wishes of those who are ignorant. 18 Verily they cannot avail thee at all against Allah. And verily the wrong doers! friends are they one unto another. And Allah is the Friend of the God-fearing. 19 This [Qur'an] is enlightenment for mankind and guidance and mercy for a people who are certain [in faith]. 20 Or do those who commit evil deeds think that We shall make them as those who believe and do righteous deeds, equal their living and their dying? How ill they judge! 21
