Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Surely We sent Nuh to his people, saying: Warn your people before there come upon them a painful chastisement. 1 He said: "O my people! Verily, I am a plain warner to you, 2 Worship Allah, and fear Him, and obey me. 3 Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.' " 4 'My Lord' said he, 'night and day I have called my nation, 5 but it has had no effect on them except to make them run away. 6 And every time I called them that You may forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their garments, and became wayward, and behaved with downright insolence. 7 Then verily I have called unto them publicly 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 “I therefore told them, ‘Seek forgiveness from your Lord; He is indeed Most Forgiving.’ 10 He will send down upon you the cloud, pouring down abundance of rain: 11 And help you with wealth and sons, and make for you gardens, and make for you rivers. 12 What is the matter with you that you deny the greatness of God, 13 When He created you by (divers) stages? 14 Do you not see how God has fashioned seven skies one above the other, 15 and set the moon therein for a light and the sun for a lamp? 16 And God caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 and He will later cause you to return to it and will then again bring you out of it. 18 And Allah hath made the earth unto you an expanse. 19 so that you might walk thereon on spacious paths.'" 20
