Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the dawn, 1 by the Ten Nights, 2 by the even, and the odd, 3 And by the night when it departs. 4 Considering all this - could there be, to anyone endowed with reason, a [more] solemn evidence of the truth? 5 Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with Ad, 6 Iram of the pillars, 7 The like of which were not created in the (other) cities; 8 (Also consider how He dealt with) the Thamud, who carved their houses out of the rocks in the valley. 9 And with Fir'awn, owner of the stakes 10 Who terrorised the region, 11 and exceeded in corruption therein. 12 Therefore thy Lord poured on them the disaster of His punishment. 13 surely thy Lord is ever on the watch. 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him, through honour and blessings, he says, "My Lord has honoured me," 15 However, when his Lord tests him by a measured amount of sustenance, he says, "God has disgraced me". 16 No! But you show no good to the orphan, 17 and do not urge one another to feed the poor, 18 and you devour the inheritance [of others] with devouring greed, 19 and love the riches, loving them ardently. 20 Nay! when the earth is made to crumble to pieces, 21 And thy Lord cometh, and His angels, rank upon rank, 22 and Gehenna is brought out, upon that day man will remember; and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say, "Oh, would that I had provided beforehand for my life!" 24 Wherefore on that Day none shall torment with His torment. 25 Nor shall any bind with His bond. 26 O satisfied soul, 27 Return unto thy Lord, content in His good pleasure! 28 enter, then, together with My [other true] servants 29 And enter thou My Garden. 30
