The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and its midmorning, 1 And the moon as she follows in his wake, 2 And the day when it shows it, 3 and by the night when it enshrouds him! 4 Consider the sky and its wondrous make, 5 by the earth and that (Power) which spread it out 6 And the soul and Him Who made it perfect, 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 Surely blissful is he who hath cleansed it, 9 And he who confines it will surely come to grief. 10 Thamood belied in their pride 11 When among them the great wretch arose, 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings). 14 and He fears not the issue thereof. 15
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
