The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 And the day resplendent 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 and rejects what is right, 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 He verily will be content. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
