Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 These are the verses of the Book of wisdom, 2 a guidance and a mercy to those who do good, 3 Those who perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as- Salat) and give Zakat and they have faith in the Hereafter with certainty. 4 It is they who follow the guidance [that comes to them] from their Sustainer; and it is they, they who shall attain to a happy state! 5 But among men there are some who spend their time in idle diversions only to lead people astray from the path of God, and without knowledge, hold it up to ridicule: for such there is a humiliating punishment in store. 6 And when Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to such a one, he turns away in pride, as if he heard them not, as if there were deafness in his ear. So announce to him a painful torment. 7 [As against this,] verily, those who attain to faith and do righteous deeds shall have gardens of bliss, 8 To dwell therein. The promise of Allah is true: and He is Exalted in Power, Wise. 9 He has created the skies without any support that you could see, and has placed firm mountains upon the earth, lest it sway with you, and has caused all manner of living creatures to multiply thereon. And We sent down water from the skies, and thus We made every kind of excellent plant grow there: 10 This is the creation of God. Show me what those whom you consider equal to God have created. In fact, the unjust ones are in plain error. 11
