Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ha'. Mim. 1 By the Scripture which maketh plain, 2 behold, We have caused it to be a discourse in the Arabic tongue, so that you might encompass it with your reason. 3 Truly, it is inscribed in the Original Book, in Our keeping; it is sublime and full of wisdom. 4 Shall We turn away the Remembrance from you because you are a sinful nation? 5 We have sent many a prophet to earlier peoples 6 But never yet came a prophet to them without their deriding him 7 We therefore destroyed the people who were more forceful than these, and the example of the earlier ones has already gone by. 8 And if you ask them, “Who has created the heavens and the earth?”, they will surely say, “They are created by the Most Honourable, the All Knowing.” 9 It is He who has made the earth for you as a cradle and has made roads therein so that you will perhaps seek guidance. 10 And who sends down rain from the sky in measured amounts, and We revive thereby a dead land - thus will you be brought forth - 11 It is He who has created everything in pairs and the ships and cattle for you to ride, 12 That ye may mount upon their backs, and may remember your Lord's favour when ye mount thereon, and may say: Glorified be He Who hath subdued these unto us, and we were not capable (of subduing them); 13 “And indeed we have to return to our Lord.” 14 Yet they assign to Him some of His own (created) worshipers! Clearly, the human is unthankful. 15
